Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister of Economic Affairs visits EUROIMMUN

Claus Ruhe Madsen, Minister of Economic Affairs, Transport, Employment, Technology and Tourism of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, together with Dr. Jürgen Walkenhorst and Dr. Georg Eschenburg of the association “Life Science Nord”, visited EUROIMMUN’s headquarters in Lübeck last week to gain an insight into the work of the laboratory diagnostic products manufacturer and its many innovations.

„Our goal is to improve human health with precise, reliable and innovative diagnostic solutions,“ said Dirk Beecker, CEO of EUROIMMUN. To achieve this, the company meets the highest scientific standards, conducts in-house research, development and production, uses its extensive knowledge to provide customised solutions, and offers customers a comprehensive service. Apart from the COVID-19 pandemic, recent challenges include tighter compliance requirements  – particularly due to the introduction of the new European In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation ((EU) 2017/746; IVDR), which places higher safety and performance requirements on manufacturers of in vitro diagnostic medical devices for the European market than the previous directive  – as well as the current Chinese-German economic relations.

Madsen was impressed by EUROIMMUN’s extensive product range, the large number of innovations in recent years and the outlook for the future plans in research and development. As a native Dane, he also recommended not to lose sight of Scandinavia. „Lübeck is an important location for medical technology in the North,“ Madsen concluded.
