On 22nd March the 12th “International Conference on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases and Related Neurological Disorders” (AD/PD™ 2015) closed in Nice, (France). Scientists from all over the world discussed causes and treatment of Alzheimer’s dementia and Parkinson’s disease.
New knowledge is urgently needed in this area of Research. Neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Alzheimer’s, are today amongst the biggest challenges for modern medicine.The WHO estimates that currently 35 million persons suffer from a form of dementia and that this number will have doubled by 2030. This poses a heavy burden for both patients and carers.
EUROIMMUN focuses a large part of its research on the investigation of diseases of the central nervous system. At AD/PD™ 2015, EUROIMMUN, together with its French subsidiary, presented the latest test generation for Alzheimer’s diagnostics. These tests were developed in a joint effort with experienced specialists in this field. The group included ADx Neuroscience, founded in 2011 by K. Dewaele, P. Appermont, H. Vanderstichele and E. Vanmechelen.
